St. Gregory A. & M. Hovsepian School Brings Newton’s First Law to Life

An object at rest… until science happens. Eighth-grade students at St. Gregory A. & M. Hovsepian School recently put Newton’s First Law of Motion to the test through an engaging, hands-on physics experiment. By carefully flicking washers at a stacked tower, students observed inertia in action as the washers moved while the structure above remained momentarily at rest. The activity encouraged critical thinking, precision, and collaboration as students made predictions and analyzed their results. Through experiential learning like this, students deepened their understanding of foundational physics concepts while building excitement for scientific discovery in the classroom.
