Tiger Cub News Tackles First National Convention and Competition

Shout out to South Pasadena Middle School’s Tiger Cub News! For the first time ever, these students attended and competed at the 2024 Student Television Network National Convention last weekend, which included more than 300 schools.

Twenty-four SPMS students attended the conference and various groups competed in different categories. One group, consisting of Oz Englender, Owen Hou, Daron Karayan, Maddox Northrup, Benjamin Olivarez, and Mateo Phippard brought home second place in the Personal Vlog Category. For this competition, the team had six hours to plan, film, edit, and upload a video around Long Beach based on the prompt, One thing about me is….

SPUSD thanks Broadcast Journalism teacher Danielle Loo for leading the students in their first convention and competition.
