A Bit of Schooling at Brella’s Holidayfest Curriculum Showcase

Preschool and childcare center Brella is joining in South Lake Avenue’s Saturday holiday festivities with a Holidayfest Curriculum Showcase.

Parents and kids can pop in from 2 to 4 p.m. to look around and discover what the school offers, from its facilities to its programs.

“The open house is definitely an opportunity for the parents to engage directly in the types of learning activities that children would be participating in the classroom,” Andrea Cinque, Director of Marketing at Brella said.

Aside from experiencing a guided tour of the campus, attendees will be able to meet with the school’s administrators and staff.

The event will focus on sensory-based activities that will highlight key focal points of curriculum like literacy workshop and group activities.

“We’ll have a lot of fun stations set up for children to really explore and play. It’s all very highly sensory designed to help children learn,” said Cinque.

There will also be giveaways and a Design Your Own Diaper station where parents and kids will have an opportunity to paint or draw on the diapers.

Cinque said every child who comes to Brella is exposed to a learning experience complete with STEM, art, music, and early literacy. Montessori, RIE, and Reggio Emilia philosophies influence its curriculum.

“One of the cool things about borrowing from all of these different pedagogies is it sort of recognizes that not all children learn in the same way. So we’ve created a curriculum and a philosophy for teaching that really meets the child’s developmental needs on a more individual basis,” said Cinque. “And really this stems from a belief that the role of early education is not to direct children, but rather to inspire their curiosity and support their natural development by exposing them to a variety of concepts, play experiences, and physical materials.”

Brella also boasts its “conveniently-located spaces, fast enrollment, and flexible booking through its mobile app.”

“We’ve made child care a better experience for the whole family,” said Cinque.

Brella Pasadena is located at 475 South Lake Avenue.
