Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy Honors the Feast Day of St. Catherine of Siena

“Be who God created you to be and you will set the world on fire.” St. Catherine of Siena

Yesterday, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy celebrated the feast day of St. Catherine of Siena, patroness of the school’s Dominican community. St. Catherine is remembered for her boldness, advocacy, and leadership. During the liturgy, presider Fr. Jorge reflected that all are called to follow her example, as she continually sought to become more like Jesus throughout her life.

The school also prayed over its newly elected ASB leaders, class board members, and Residential Hall leaders, who each received a Flintridge rose – yellow with orange tips – to symbolize the fire and spirit of St. Catherine’s courageous call to servant leadership.

In addition, the student organization FIA encouraged the community to wear denim as a show of solidarity against victim-blaming myths and in support of survivors of sexual violence, reflecting a meaningful act of advocacy.

Students also enjoyed the tradition of sharing birthday cake in honor of St. Catherine’s feast day. St. Catherine of Siena, pray for us.
