Pasadena High Physics Students Take on Egg Drop Challenge

At Pasadena High School, Mr. Woods’ Conceptual Physics students are taking on a classic engineering challenge with their Momentum/Collision Projects, also known as the Egg Drop Project. For this project, students apply their understanding of physics concepts like momentum, force, and collision by designing and constructing protective containers for an egg. The objective? To create a structure that will keep the egg intact when dropped from the second floor. Each team must test their design by dropping their container and watching as it plummets to the ground. Will their egg survive the impact unscathed, or will they witness the telltale cracks of a broken shell? This project is as much about problem-solving and innovation as it is about physics, encouraging students to think creatively, test theories, and work collaboratively to achieve a successful drop.
